Charles “Chic” Dambach, an alumnus of OSU, is the President Emeritus of the National Peace Corps Association; former President of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, and former Chief of Staff for Congressman John Garamendi. A former Cowboy football player, OSU student activist and Nobel nominee, Chic has dedicated his life to peacebuilding. He will talk about peacebuilding efforts around the world, particularly his experiences as a key negotiator in the Ethiopia-Eritrea war. Chic will be honored by his former classmates with an endowed scholarship at OSU’s School of Global Studies and Partnerships, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to hear more from him about his vision for building peace in our world.
The statue — a tall bronze representing Burns Hargis — was funded by several generous donors and sculpted by renowned Oklahoma sculptor Mike Larsen. Larsen has been a professional artist for nearly 50 years and has been commissioned to work on multiple mural projects and monumental-sized bronzes. He is known for his very large paintings, and also for one very tiny one — the U.S. postage stamp commemorating the Oklahoma Centennial in 2007.
